In Portland, Oregon, where my two kids go to elementary school, our district is getting ready to welcome students back for hybrid learning after Spring Break. Personally, we are excited to get some (upper)face time with the teachers and classmates we’ve missed so much during this year of virtual learning. But as a parent, I have many questions.
My first question is, Can we do this? Where This is waking the kids up more than 20 minutes before their first meeting. And making sure they are dressed in non-pajamas. And eating before they leave to go to school. And adjusting our daily schedule again so significantly. And, letting them away from me for the first time in a year.
So in preparation for going back to in-person school, I am looking for any way that I can make this as easy possible for my family. Here's what I am thinking: Quick, easy breakfasts that we can make ahead, or that the kids can grab on their way out the door. Pre-writing the funny and/or encouraging notes I’ll sneak into their backpacks. Getting back into the habit of laying out clothes the night before. And — stocking up on face masks the kids want to wear so we don't have to wash, dry, and sanitize masks every evening for the following day.
My kids love our Destira masks with their contoured fit and over-head straps. Especially for extended or active wear, we appreciate the elastic that doesn’t ride on the backs of our ears or get tangled in earrings, and stays put inside at learning stations, and outside for playground races.
Right now our 3-packs are only $15 each, with prints that we think your child will want to wear, whether they’re into decorating their own “blank" mask, rocking an interstellar vibe, or free-spiriting with our Wild and Free pack.
We think they’ll will make thoughtful welcome-back gifts for our incredible, persistent, hardworking educators and staff, too.
We’re interested in partnering with your PTA to raise funds through back-to-school mask sales. For more information please email firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know your PTA would like to sign up as a Destira fundraising partner.
Can't wait to hear from you! -- Janine
