We have one planet. We are responsible for protecting our environment and keeping our earth beautiful for generations to come. We celebrate Earth Day every day.Â
- Senator Gaylord Nelson founded Earth Day in 1970 to raise public consciousness about environmental concerns such as pollution, oil spills, and vanishing wildlife. 20 million Americans took part in the first Earth Day!Â
- The theme for Earth Day 2024 is Planet vs. Plastics.Â
- Around 1 billion people take part in Earth Day activities around the world every year.
- Today’s average American generates about 4.5 pounds of trash per day, compared to 2.68 pounds in 1960, according to the EPA.
- More than 30 countries and regions have introduced bans on disposable plastic bags to fight plastic waste, according to Greenpeace.
Planet Vs. Plastics at Destira
At Destira, we try our best to do our part to help by using sustainable packaging and practices while also continuing to research new practices to continue to be as sustainable as possible.Â
Currently,
- Our polymailers from noissue are made of 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) material which gives waste a second life instead of further contributing to the already large amount of waste in circulation.
- We are conscious and strategic about our choice in packaging for each order to minimize the use of excess material.
- We are a part of the noissue eco-alliance program, which helps plant trees worldwide.
- We practice carbon-neutral shipping. By shipping carbon neutral, we are reducing our carbon footprint which is a leading cause of climate change around the world. Learn more about shipping carbon-neutral here.
- We use our excess fabric from leotards and unitards to create accessories such as grip bags, scrunchies, and doll leotards to minimize fabric waste
